I was on my way to the office when I heard this news on the radio. It’s so sad how some people work abroad and get abused like this. The incident happened last October 1 when a Kuwaiti traffic policeman raped and stabbed the victim several times on the neck inside a police car. The Filipina whose 27 years old can barely move her bed due to back pain. She work as a household service worker for three years starting 2006 and later on at a dress shop. (her current job) She told the story starting with the sentence, ‘I went here in Kuwait to work for the future of my kids and family’. On September 30 she went with her female friend to the mall. When they came out and ride a cab they were stopped by the suspect. Her residence visa just expired four days ago and was still being renewed by her new sponsor, so the police let her friend go and asked her to get inside the police car. But to her surprise the police didn’t take her to any police station and drove her in a dark deserted place. ““He told me that he will take me to the police station in South Surra but I was surprised when he stopped in a dark and deserted place,” she recounted. She added that the suspect forced her to perform oral sex and raped her from behind and front. “After raping me, I begged him to stop and I was terrified when he reached for a small knife that looked like a Swiss knife and stabbed me on my neck several times then kicked me hard on my back. I lost consciousness and when I woke up I was already here at the hospital,” she cried.” (from www.filipinosabroad.com/ofw-news/embassy-to-pursue-case-of-filipina/) Luckily a police on patrol saw her unconscious and full of blood. They took her to the hospital. The suspect was arrested on Oct. 4 and presented by the authorities to her. I HATE THIS PART, when the suspect was presented to her all she can do is to look at him with fear, but the jerk even SMILED AT HER! That is just so evil! She said that a relative of the suspected visited her and offer job and money and said she’ll fix her visa on a condition that she drops the case against the suspect. Of course she declined it! The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait vowed to pursue the case. This should not happen to any women in the world… |
