Fashion for Pooritas
The Great Gatsby Inspired Nails

Sunday, May 26, 2013 @ 1:23 PM | 0 Comment [s]

Well this is not really from the movie.. I just thought it looked like it. Lol  I think I did this nail art when I first tried out my stripping tools.  Well it doesn't look that bad, does it?  I saw this design when I was browsing the net and I gave it a try.  I didn't use any tapes with this nail art.  I just had my gold glittered polish as the base color and strip away the line.  Oh yeah, I did use a scotch tape on my ring finger nails...  But for anything else I didn't.  It's much easier than I looks like.  For nail addicts out there, I suggest you try this...

Hmmm.... thinking...

Licorice Candy Nails

Saturday, May 11, 2013 @ 2:22 AM | 0 Comment [s]

This like a part two of my previous post, where I have this candy-like gradient nail art.  And this is what I call, saving the art, restoring, evolution, repairing... lol
Basically, I just didn't wanna waste the design.  So what I usually do before I remove a nail design I first think of some ways to kinda like create a new design from what I already have.  So, here's one of my restorations... :P

How did I do it?
From my previous gradient nail polish.
1. Cut some strips for tape and place on your nails to what design you wanna come up with.  All diagonal for me in this pic.
2. Apply nail polish (with the color of your choice, black for me in this pic).
3. While the nail polish is still wet, gentle peel off the strips.
4.  Let it dry a bit, then apply top coat.

More nail art design to come since that's what I've been doing a lot lately.  And I love it!
And if your wondering about @nailcoats tag, that's my Instagram account.  Follow me!!! <3
I also have a facebook page for nail art at Nail Coats

Summer Candy Nails

@ 12:36 AM | 0 Comment [s]

Well it's been a while since I last posted here.  I've been so busy, and yes... Lazy... Anyways, this is my very cute, gradient/ombre candy nails.  It looks like candy to me so I call it that way.  This is actually my first time doing gradient nails with sponge.  Sponge, as in the one you use for dish washing, because I usually do my gradient nail art using make up sponge which is okay, but it kinda gives me a rough finish.

How to do this?
Well I'd like to give you a picture on the step by step process, but I'll do that later... lol Lazy me.  So here's how.

1. Apply you base color.  I have a neon yellow base in this one, I'm just too lazy to remove it so I top it off with the gradient.
2. Apply a generous amount of two colors of your choice in a plastic plate, horizontally or vertically, which ever you choose.
3. Use a toothpick or a dotting tool to drawing a zigzag or swirl on the line where the two colors meet.
4. Dab your sponge on the polish a couple of times and quickly dab it down your nails.
5. Dab it up and down to create more gradient effect. (Just don't over dab where the nail polish gets sticky and bumpy)
6. Apply top coat to smooth out the surface.  Don't let your gradient dry before you do this or else you'll get bubbles when you apply your top coat, like mine in the pic.
7. Lastly, clean the sides of your nails for some excess polish.

Girl's "What to Wear" Dilemma

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 @ 2:57 AM | 0 Comment [s]

Well, there's always this problem among girls... WHAT TO WEAR? The caption says it right. The problem with us girls is that we have nothing to wear and at the same time there's no room for all our clothes. I remember when I always complain about I have nothing to wear, then my hubby will open my cabinet and ask "What's these clothes then?" LOL... Well only us girls can understand that.

Now I'm having the same dilemma! Our office Christmas party was announced just 2 weeks before the date. And I got no time to prepare! The theme is Hollywood Red Carpet "Dress to Impress." And I have no idea what to wear... Stressful as it is...

Galaxy Nail Art

Tuesday, October 30, 2012 @ 2:41 AM | 0 Comment [s]

I don't think I've shown you my galaxy nails. So? What do you think? Yes I made them myself. I always think that having your nails done at the salon is too much wasting of money.

If I can do it, I'll do it myself... I can even cut my own hair... Lol I'm proud of myself cause not everybody can do that. And not everybody is as patient as me when it comes to nail art... So I tap myself at the back for this...

I only used sponging method for that. It's pretty easy if your patient enough... And I always say... There's no easy jobs for whiners...

Recycling your nail art design

Monday, October 29, 2012 @ 5:10 AM | 0 Comment [s]

If you've seen my recent post about my rose tip nail art (you can view it here. Then you might think that I would be a waste if I'll just remove it after my nails grew long. Well I thought so too. And the fact that I did it myself, and I know I put effort on that design, I think I will not just remove that design.

I try to save my nail art design by adding polish to the portion where the cuticles separates from my nail polish design. I cut my nails because it was already too long for me, I kept on scratching myself accidentally. So as you can see... The rose design was cut in half. I put the gradient effect on the top portion of my nails to hide the grown out nails.. And there you have it. New design from the old one... :)

Want to Hide Scars and Blemishes?

Friday, October 26, 2012 @ 8:49 PM | 0 Comment [s]

Blemishes are sometimes stubborn and you can't take them of your face that quickly. So what can we do girls? Cover them. With what? With BB cream.

So what is a BB cream?
Ok, let me give you a little history about this magic cream... BB cream actually originated in Germany where dermatologists use this for the patient's skin after surgery. It is said that BB cream has a skin regenerating properties. Koreans then, discovered it and started using it. They added BB cream to primer, foundation, moisturizer, concealer and many facial products.

Now now BB cream has become a craze and even top models use it... It has the effect of making your face look healthier, and of course it makes it healthier too.
I have I'm from Etude House. I really like it. It has this porcelain look on my face... :)

Mayonnaise as hair treatment

@ 12:25 AM | 0 Comment [s]

i know some people don't like the thought of putting mayonnaise on their heads. But it is said and proven by many women that using mayonnaise as a hair treatment is a effective and natural way to make your hair soft and shiny and reduce any damages. Mayonnaise also improves hair growth as it contains lots of oils and proteins which is great for your hair.

Mayonnaise is absolutely cheaper than any other treatment and you can buy it at any grocery stores. If you worried about your hair smelling like mayo, don't. Because after you give it a good rinse and a shampoo, your hair like not smell like it. And it will help your hair become livelier.

Rose tip Nail art

Monday, October 15, 2012 @ 3:15 AM | 0 Comment [s]

Since weekend passed I had the chance to get my nails done. I decided to draw fuchsia pink roses on the tip of my nails... It's kinda hard for me to do since I don't have a nail art brush. I used toothpick to draw these flowers... I think pink and gold is a good color combination.

What do you think of my new nails?

Yes, it's bread and yes, you can eat it...  I was a post from vieforvee of Bubblews.  You can check it here...  And it reminded me of the Gruesome Bakeshop I once saw in the net.

The shop is located at Thailand and the artist behind this +battered and bruised body parts is Kittiwat Unarrom, who has a Master's degree in Fine Arts.  That explains a lot right?  The body parts really look so real...

Kuwaiti police Raped and Stabbed a Filipina Immigrant

@ 3:06 AM | 0 Comment [s]

I was on my way to the office when I heard this news on the radio. It’s so sad how some people work abroad and get abused like this.

The incident happened last October 1 when a Kuwaiti traffic policeman raped and stabbed the victim several times on the neck inside a police car.

The Filipina whose 27 years old can barely move her bed due to back pain. She work as a household service worker for three years starting 2006 and later on at a dress shop. (her current job)
She told the story starting with the sentence, ‘I went here in Kuwait to work for the future of my kids and family’. On September 30 she went with her female friend to the mall. When they came out and ride a cab they were stopped by the suspect. Her residence visa just expired four days ago and was still being renewed by her new sponsor, so the police let her friend go and asked her to get inside the police car. But to her surprise the police didn’t take her to any police station and drove her in a dark deserted place.

““He told me that he will take me to the police station in South Surra but I was surprised when he stopped in a dark and deserted place,” she recounted. She added that the suspect forced her to perform oral sex and raped her from behind and front. “After raping me, I begged him to stop and I was terrified when he reached for a small knife that looked like a Swiss knife and stabbed me on my neck several times then kicked me hard on my back. I lost consciousness and when I woke up I was already here at the hospital,” she cried.” (from www.filipinosabroad.com/ofw-news/embassy-to-pursue-case-of-filipina/)

Luckily a police on patrol saw her unconscious and full of blood. They took her to the hospital.
The suspect was arrested on Oct. 4 and presented by the authorities to her.
I HATE THIS PART, when the suspect was presented to her all she can do is to look at him with fear, but the jerk even SMILED AT HER! That is just so evil!

She said that a relative of the suspected visited her and offer job and money and said she’ll fix her visa on a condition that she drops the case against the suspect. Of course she declined it!

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait vowed to pursue the case.
This should not happen to any women in the world…

Have you heard of Hair Chalking?

Monday, October 8, 2012 @ 12:48 AM | 0 Comment [s]

I've always wanted to try dip dye my hair.  It has become a trend since a lot of celebrities like Lauren Conrad, Nikki Minaj and Jessie J flaunts their vibrant hair everywhere. But in order for have a dip dyed look I had to go through bleaching them, cause I have black hair.  And after bleaching I have to buy Manic Panic hair dyes which cost like Php1,000.  And if I decided that it looks to exaggerated then I'll have to color it dark again.
THEN...  I learned about hair chalking...  I sounds crazy, but yeah...  You actually chalk your hair with color pastels to make it look like it is dip dyed.  Then run a flat iron or curling iron to seal the color and your done.  You done even have to bleach your hair.
Now they you selling hair chalks.  Intended only for hair chalking.
It's perfect for people who just wants to experiment with their hair.  You can also use this in this coming Halloween.  And what's good about this stuff is that you always wash it at the end of the day.  It's much more cheaper too.  You can buy Php75 for a piece of chalk.

So? What do you think???

Step by Step Gradient Nail Tutorial

Thursday, September 27, 2012 @ 3:38 AM | 0 Comment [s]

Since I lent my money on some mobile bar business fund, I don't think I can buy a camera any time soon so I'll just gonna have to do a photo tutorial of my gradient nail.  Sorry for the quality of the picture... I only used my cellphone's camera for that.
Step 1: Start with you base color. Let it dry.
Step 2: Put a small amount of your gradient color on a sponge or on plastic plate then damp the sponge.
Step 3: Damp the sponge from the tip of the finger going up ( depending on how high you want the fading to be)
Step 4: Repeat step 3, but stop a little lower than the first shade.
Step 5: Repeat step 4, but stop a little lower than the previous shade so you can get the fading effect.
Step 6: Apply a top coat to even out the roughness and give a shine to your nails.

Lame huh? Yeah... I'm lame.

I love the pastel shades of this gradient nail art. Teal, pink and glittery gold!  I can't wait to show how I did it.  I'm just saving for a camera so I can do some video tutorial on nail arts.  I think I got too excited and made a youtube account for that, though I still don't have any videos in my channel.  I hope I can buy a camera soon.  By the way my youtube channel  is youtube.com/nailcoats.  You can always subscribe now and watch when I get to buy a camera.
